At 11:04 on June 14, 2024, the inaugural blasting operation for the Zhoushan Storage Yard Site‑Leveling Project (YZSG‑6 Work Zone of the New Ningbo‑Zhoushan Railway) executed by our company was successfully completed.

       The Zhoushan Storage Yard is located 1.6 km southeast of Baiquan Town, Dinghai District, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province. The project involves an estimated earth‑rock excavation volume of 3.84 million cubic meters over a construction period of approximately 30 months. The excavation site features complex surrounding conditions. Dense residential buildings lie to the north and northeast at a minimum distance of only 28 meters. To the west, the site is 120 meters from the G329 East‑West Expressway, a major transportation artery on Zhoushan Main Island, 60 meters from the national highway, 28 meters from a hollow‑brick plant, and 30 meters from a 10 kV power line. To the south stands another 10 kV power line 30 meters away, while dense residential dwellings in Fujia’ao are merely 20 meters southeast of the work zone.

       Blasting‑related evacuation presented major challenges in these densely populated residential areas. Furthermore, the East‑West Expressway could not be closed during blasting activities. Such demanding surroundings called for highly refined and standardized blasting practices to achieve zero fly‑rock and low vibration.
       Given the heavy workload, long construction cycle and intricate surrounding environment, the company carried out forward‑looking planning and thorough preparation. Multiple expert review sessions were held to iteratively optimize the blasting design and construction scheme. During pre‑construction preparation, a high‑caliber project management team was selected through internal competitive recruitment. After mobilizing to site, the team quickly aligned on execution strategies and designated Zone A (+72 m to +57 m platform) as the inaugural blasting area. Rigorous site organization and refined construction were implemented, with special attention paid to stemming quality and comprehensive safety perimeter setup.
       The blasting achieved full compliance with design requirements with zero fly‑rock. Third‑party monitoring confirmed that blasting vibration readings at all measuring points were well below the safety threshold for surrounding protected assets.
      Representatives from the Dinghai District Government, Dinghai District Public Security Bureau, Baiquan Town Government, Baiquan Police Station and the general contractor were present on‑site to witness the inaugural blast and offered positive feedback. The successful execution of this first blasting has built practical experience for subsequent blasting organization and parameter tuning, marking the official launch of this long‑term challenging project.
