Successful First Blasting at the Outlet Rock Ridge of Yongjia Xiatang Tunnel

The Class A blasting project for the outlet rock ridge of Xiatang Tunnel, part of the Section III of Yongjia Santang Tunnel Flood Diversion Emergency Project undertaken by our company, successfully carried out its first blasting operation at 10:00 a.m. on May 9, 2014.

The project site was surrounded by complex conditions, with nearby temples and industrial buildings. High-voltage transmission lines of 110kV, 220kV, and 500kV surrounded the blasting area. The south side was adjacent to the Nanxi River and tidal flats, while the north side was only 35 meters from the national defense optical cable and Provincial Highway S223, and 3 meters from the completed tunnel lining. The blasting operation had to strictly control vibration and flyrock to avoid damage to surrounding facilities and the existing concrete tunnel structure.

To ensure the safety of personnel and facilities, our company carried out detailed blasting design, careful construction organization, and comprehensive safety measures. After the blasting, the rock ridge fragmentation effect was satisfactory, vibration and flyrock control met the expected objectives, and all surrounding protective facilities remained intact. The successful operation received positive recognition from the project owner and local residents.
