At 10:25 a.m. on September 20, 2019, following the detonation command, our company successfully completed the blasting demolition project of the chimney at Baitashan Brick and Tile Factory in Wantian Township.
The demolition of the chimney was highly challenging due to the complex surrounding environment. The factory building was located approximately 4 meters directly to the east of the chimney. To the southeast, residential buildings were approximately 58 meters away, and 10 kV power poles were approximately 53 meters away. To the south, the Hanghe Line road was approximately 45 meters away. To the southwest, residential buildings were approximately 117 meters away, 10 kV power poles were approximately 107 meters away, and a waste transfer station was approximately 200 meters away. To the northwest, a communication tower foundation was approximately 147 meters away.In response to the complex site conditions, our company conducted detailed studies and discussions, and developed strict blasting design plans, safety perimeter control plans, and emergency response plans.
Chimney to Be Demolished
Before the blasting operation, the Quzhou Office organized a blasting safety technical briefing meeting on September 19, 2019. During the meeting, potential hazards and safety risks that might occur throughout the blasting process were further identified and addressed. A blasting command center, safety perimeter control team, protection team, and emergency response team were established, with designated personnel responsible for unified coordination and command.
After the blasting, the chimney collapsed in the designed direction and fell completely into the protective trench. This effectively reduced the risk of flying debris caused by the impact of the collapse on the ground, minimized potential damage to surrounding buildings and structures, and ensured the safety of the blasting operation.
Blasting Results
The chimney blasting demolition project was successfully completed under the supervision and guidance of the Public Order Detachment of Quzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau and the Public Order Detachment of Kecheng District, Quzhou, with strong support from the People’s Government of Wantian Township, Kecheng District, Quzhou. The project received widespread recognition and high praise from the relevant authorities and local residents.
