The inaugural China Blasting Industry Vocational Skills Competition was successfully held in Luoyang, Henan Province from July 5 to 7, 2024. More than 110 elite practitioners from over 30 blasting enterprises across 14 provinces took part in the contest. After fierce competition, 9 first prize winners, 13 second prize winners, 20 third prize winners and 18 merit award recipients were selected. Hu Weixing, an employee of GN Energetic Blasting, claimed the championship and became the only participant from Zhejiang Province to receive the First Prize.
Led by the China Blasting Industry Association, the competition themed "Develop Talent through Skills, Serve the Country with Expertise". As an innovative initiative for the national blasting sector, it aims to improve the professionalism of frontline practitioners and accelerate the cultivation of talent teams within the blasting industry. Combining theoretical assessments and practical operation tests, the competition covers fundamental theories of explosives and detonation, knowledge of conventional civil explosives and relevant safety management regulations, as well as common operation techniques for open-pit, underground and demolition blasting projects. It focuses on evaluating participants’ hands-on capabilities, problem-solving skills and awareness of operational standards.
The company attached great importance to the competition. Led by senior management, we selected top technical talents through rigorous screening. Comprehensive preparation followed, including intensive training, mock examinations to consolidate theoretical knowledge, video learning and on-site practical drills to sharpen operational skills. The company also facilitated experience-sharing sessions, inviting in-house technical specialists honored as "National Outstanding Senior Skilled Blasting Professionals" to exchange expertise. These efforts helped systematize technical know-how, standardize practical experience and comprehensively upgrade the competitors’ capabilities.
