First Chamber Blasting in Tajikistan Successfully Completed

On December 29, 2011, the first chamber blasting operation of the Tarozin Gold Mine Open-Pit Top Removal Project in Tajikistan was successfully completed. The blasting achieved the designed results, with the rock mass above elevation +1860 successfully removed.

The project required chamber blasting for approximately 2 million m³ of rock excavation, planned to be carried out in multiple stages. The first blast involved 460,000 m³ of rock, with two charging levels, three tunnels, 730m of development tunnels, and 201 tons of explosives. Millisecond delay blasting technology was adopted, with 44 chambers fired in 16 sequences to effectively control blasting effects.

Due to complex geological conditions, including fractured rock, faults, and developed joints, our company conducted detailed surveys and optimized the design through expert discussions. Measures such as controlled blasting, optimized charge distribution, and strengthened stemming ensured safety and blasting quality.

After blasting, the muck pile was well shaped, fragmentation was uniform, and no flyrock occurred. Vibration levels were far below safety limits. The successful project received recognition from the Tajikistan government, the mine owner, and local residents, marking a significant achievement in our company’s overseas blasting operations.
